Peru (February 2006)One way to escape winter is to fly somewhere where it's summer. That's just what we did by traveling to South America in February. Our adventure started in Lima, where we stayed for a couple of days learning about the area and its culture. We then flew to Cuzco and took a tour of the Sacred Valley, a fertile area in central Peru, rich in Inca history. Our tour started by bus to the village of Ollantaytambo, where we visited and shared a meal with some local people. The next day we took a train along the Urubamba river to Aguas Calientes, a village at the base of the mountain where Machu Picchu is located.
