Ollantaytambo was founded in 1472 and an important city in the pre-Inca period.  We visited the ruins of a temple up a steep hill from the town.  The old part of the village consisted of residences made of fieldstones.

It was a rainy day.

The old town was a stone-walled labyrinth that included small apartments.

One apartment we visited consisted of stone walls and dirt floors.  Skulls of ancestors were above the fireplace.

Cooking was done on a stone stove.

Guinea pigs were allowed to run free.

Our host family that provided a special guinea pig dinner.  On Carlene's left is our guide who did a wonderful job.

Carlene couldn't eat the local delicacy.
