Lunch stop at a Berlin restaurant.

Only a small portion of the Berlin Wall remains.  This section is painted with themes that portray the wall's historical significance.  Here suppressed people escape to freedom

Not much of a picture, but it is the square where Nazis had their famous book burning that is often shown in WWII documentaries.  The memorial is actually below ground, seen through a glass cover and consists of empty book shelves.

The Holocaust memorial.  Very stark.


The remains of a church bombed-out during WWII, left standing as a reminder of the devastation of war.  It was replaced by a church with a modern architecture, the interior of which is shown to the right.
